Have you noticed our brand new website? It is pretty terrific. The creation of the new layout and design of our website was centered around simplicity and functionality. We know that technology can be confusing and frustrating; so when you visit us online, we want you to quickly have an understanding of all our services, what we provide and how we can help you improve the functionality of your business.
Many of our blogs talk about cloud computing. This is one of our most popular services and many of our clients come to us asking for more information about how they can get aspects of their business up on the cloud.
Our website clearly breaks down the 3 different cloud services that CyberTrails offers:
- The Public Cloud
- The Private Cloud
- The Hybrid Cloud
It is always nice to have options, but which one is the right choice for your company’s needs? Let’s take a closer look at all three of these to help clear up the forecast and let the sun shine through.
The Public Cloud is a popular, robust and complete enterprise class platform. It is very flexible and provides the user or company with many options, including built in HA and Vmotion. (HA stands for “high availability across the entire virtualized IT environment” and Vmotion is a top-of-the-line virtual software from VMware, Inc., a software provider based out of Palo Alto, California.)
Server virtualization technology, which the cloud provides, enables the user to run several separate operation systems on the same server or machine. When you are storing your information on the public cloud, you are storing your info, essentially on the web. Your business email and tools like: Dropbox, Dropcanvas and yousendit are all daily examples where you are already storing information on the internet and on cloud platforms.
When you store your information on a public cloud, you don’t have to worry about a singular machine or actual server being damaged or failing and going down. If the equipment that you are currently using gets damaged, all of your info will be safe and fine if it is stored in a virtual dedicated server in the cloud; no productivity or data will be erased or lost. At CyberTrails, we have done our homework and provide our clients with the best virtual server solutions available from VMware® like we mentioned above. Storing your info in the public cloud is a great way to eradicate unproductive downtime and protect your company’s sensitive data.
The difference between the private cloud and the public cloud is best described through this analogy. The public cloud is like renting a studio apartment in an apartment building, while a private cloud is like owning and living in a home that you own. Both of you are using the same core services and utilities (water, gas, electrical etc.) but in an apartment, while you have your own key, you share space and utilities with many other units. A homeowner, on the other hand, also has their own key but does not share resources; they have everything allocated just for them. In a private cloud, as we say on our website, you control your environment. In a private cloud you have a few additional options which include:
- Hardware that is dedicated only to your company
- The ability to customize your security
- Reduction in the amount of money that is spent to acquire and update equipment
- Peace-of-mind managed service options
There truly is a cloud for everyone within the hybrid cloud option. The hybrid cloud combines aspects of the public and the private cloud infrastructures specifically customized to your company’s needs. It’s the best of both atmospheres! More specifically a hybrid cloud is a composition of at least one private cloud and at least one public cloud. A hybrid cloud is a cloud computing environment in which an organization provides and manages some resources in-house and has others provided externally. For example, an organization might use a public cloud service, such as Commvault, for archived data but continue to maintain in-house storage for operational customer data. Ideally, the hybrid approach allows a business to take advantage of the scalability and cost-effectiveness that a public cloud computing environment offers without completely releasing control of mission-critical applications and data.
So you see the cloud doesn’t have to be opaque and incomprehensible. You simply just need to know your options and have them explained to you by a professional; then everything will be all clear ahead. One of our favorite things to say at CyberTrails is that we provide YOUR CLOUD YOUR WAY so grab your particular cloud today as it floats by and contact us if you have any more questions or to schedule your free consultation!
