Commands Used To Register or Maintain IRC Channels
I wont even begin to list all the commands for chanserve here, but I will outline the most important and useful ones. If you desire a complete copy, please e-mail me from the link below and I will send them to you or ask me online to get a DCC of the commands.
These commands,
depending on the network can begin with simply using /cs (short for Chanserv),
or /chanserv, or /msg chanserv. Note that I have used the
simple /cs in
my examples for simplicity.
Command Purpose and Use
Register
To register a channel to you, making you the 'founder' of the channel, giving
you
complete control of all channel options. The channel name #irchelp is
used here
as an example. You MUST have a registered nickname to register a channel.
/msg chanserv register #irchelp yourpassword irchelp channel
or: /msg chanserv register #irchelp password channeldescription
Info
This command lists the information chanserv has about the channel in question.
The usage would be in order to find out who is the founder of the channel, or
find out when the channel was founded.
The command is /cs info #channelname
Sop
The Sop command is used to add or delete Sop's from the channel Sop list.
Sop's control what goes on in the channel, in addition to being able to add or
delete Aops. Sops can also add or delete from the akick list for the
channel.
Command usage is /cs sop #channelname add/del nickname
You must 'identify' to chanserv with the channel password in order to be able
to change the Sop list. (see the identify command below)
Aop
The Aop command is used to add or delete Aop's from the Aop list for the
channel. Aops have the same control over the channel that Sops do with
the
exceptions of being able to add new Aop's or change the akick list. You
must be a Sop or founder in able to add/delete Aops.
The command is: /cs aop #channelname
add nickname
Akick
The akick command is intended to be a permanent ban for someone, keeping
them out of the channel no matter if the ban list is wiped. When entering
an
akick, you must enter the persons ip address to be effective. Be careful
not
to be too prohibitive in your akick with too many wildcards in the IP address.
You will end up keeping others out that were not intended.
The command is: /cs akick #channelname add/del
*!*@*.linknet.com
NOTE: If you were to set this akick, it would essentially ban EVERYONE
from linknet.com. Try to only use the * wildcard in the 'dynamic' portion
of
the ip address. If youre unsure what the dynamic portion is, contact one
of
your local IRCops to help you. You must be at least a Sop in order to add
or delete akicks to the list.
Other uses include: /cs akick #channel LIST
/cs akick #channel WIPE
mlock
Mlock is the command given to chanserv that locks the 'modes' of the channel.
These modes will remain locked onto the channel even if the channel becomes
empty. The command is: /cs set
#channelname mlock +rtn (or whatever
the mode happens to be. You must be indentified as the founder to set
mlock.
topiclock
Topiclock is used to lock the channels topic editing, allowing only authorized
access levels to change the topic.
The command is: /cs set #channel topiclock on
In this case, only the founder can change the topic.
identify
Indentify is used to identify to chanserv the founder of the channel.
This is done
by using your password for the channel.
The command is: /cs identify #channelname password
Mdeop
This command is used to Deop everyone in the channel including yourself.
You
must be SOP in the channel to use this command.
The command is: /cs mdeop #channelname
Mkick
This command is used to kick every user out of your channel. You must be
SOP
in the channel to use this command.
The command is: /cs mkick #channnelname
Deop
Deop is used to remove +o (op) from someone in your channel. It can be
used
either while you are in or outside your channel.
The command is: /cs deop #channel nickname
Op
Op is used opposite of deop. You can use the command from inside or
outside
the channel.
The command is: /cs op #channel nickname
Drop
Drop is used to drop your channel from registration with chanserv. You
must be
identified as the founder of the channel to use the command.
The command is: /cs drop #channelname
Invite
You may use invite to invite yourself to your own channel that is set with +i
(invite
only) , or invite someone to your 'invite only' channel while you are there.
The command is: /cs invite #channelname (to
invite yourself to a channel
you are aop on)
/cs invite nickname #channelname
