Memoserv is provided by some networks as a way of sending or receiving messages similar to e-mail over IRC.  To use Memoserv, you must be using a registered nickname, and the person you are sending a message must also have a registered nickname.  These messages are stored by the network until the person they were sent to gets online, and is able to be identified by nickserv to be the owner of that nickname.  Once this occurs, Memoserv alerts the person that they have unread messages.  Your messages stay on the server until you delete them, so it is best to delete them once you have read them to save space.

To send a message to someone with a registered nickname, simply type  /msg Memoserv send nickname message.  For example if you wanted to send a message  to the nick 'rainmaker', you would type /msg Memoserv send rainmaker Have a nice day!  If Rainmaker was not online when you sent the message, Rainmaker would get a message from Memoserv the  next time he or she  logged on that they had an unread message.  His message would identify who the sender was and the message would read 'Have a nice day!'.

If you have any new un-read messages stored for you when you come online, you will be notified by Memoserv that you have un-read messages.  These messages are stored in the order that they are received, and designated as message 1, 2, 3 ect.  To read your first message, you would type the command  /msg Memoserv read 1, and /msg Memoserv read 2, and 3, ect.  When you have read your messages it is best to delete them all by typing the command /msg Memoserv del all.  This wipes your messages off the server and saves room for others that use the system.
